Expectation:March8-the day when the world celebrates in the honor of ladies who have inspired millions of other women to go beyond the barricades of society and live their life.
Reality: -March 8- yet another day in the calendar, usually reminded by newspaper adverisements and Whatsapp messages
It was astonishing to what these people thought about women’ day:
When asked a mother what women’s day meant to her she would say-“ A couple of discounts in the super market, I am happy”
When asked a newly married lady on how she celebrated Women’s Day, she responded“ My husband forwarded me a whatsapp message on Women’s day. It was nice”
When asked a friend what she thought about this day,she retorted-“Oh my God! These guys are gonna start whining again on why they don’t have Men’s day”
These replies made me understand how well the notion of Women’s day had entered into people mind.
To all my beloved friends…
It’s not easy to be woman and before we quote you examples of the famous personalities ,lets begin by knowing the women around us.
We interviewed the lady lectures from our college, we wished if we could interview all of them, but we restricted to only 3 of them due to the time constraint .
It was amazing to know how they faced life..here is what we have got for you!:
VASUDHA MAAM
Dr.N Vasudha, our dynamic mathematics professor rejoices to be called a typical Hyderbadi. Groomed from the core of Charminar, she did her schooling in ABIDS. After graduation, she had to tie knot on persuasion from her family which she is very grateful for. Due to the immense support from her Spouse and in laws she was able to chase her childhood dream which was filled with love for –Mathematics!.
Her zeal for research in Mathematics gained her M.sc and Ph.D. from the prestigious Osmania University.
This independent lady we know who portrays a very authoritative and bold image is in fact the most lovable, joyful and kindhearted person you will ever come across-Trust Us!
This is what she had to say when we approached her:
· ‘Which comes first according to you: Personal or Professional life?’
-“Of course! My personal life but I do know to balance both. My personal and professional life goes hand in hand.
· ‘What difficulties did you come across in your life and how did you overcome those?’
“There were no difficulties as such as my family was very supportive. Yes! There were times when the whole responsibility of the family was put on my shoulders which was due to the usual stigma that ‘Women have to always take care of the family’, but eventually I mastered it all.
· ‘What is your constant driving force?’
“There is no such thing as I CAN’T as long as I WANT it. I believe that success has no end,no barrier. There is nothing in this world that can stop you from achieving the success other than your unwillingness. I am happy with what I am today and totally contended!’(She had the broadest smile on her face’)
· ‘What is that one thing we don’t know about you?”
“I was an introvert who was also pretty scared to travel alone.
My paper presentation in Spain was given by my supervisor because of my fear for travelling to places other than Hyderabad! This fear is caused due to somekind of inhibition in me, which I would one day surely overcome!”
· ‘Which quality would you recommend to the young ladies of this generation?’
“Every woman young or old should be and must be fiercely independent in her thoughts and actions. I believe that women are the most vibrant, gifted and purest souls on this planet”.
· “Do you think our constitutional laws adequately empowers women”
“Not in all aspects. For instance, the 33% reservation bill in the assembly has surely paved a way for women to enter into politics but there weren’t any initiatives taken by the politicians and government in encouraging them in this field. What I would suggest is that these laws must be strictly imbibed and implemented by our government.
· On afunny note, “would you accept that your personality resembles SHIVGAMI in BAHUBALI ?”
“Haha..Every girl is a SHIVAGAMI! The circumstances in life will cause the manifestation”she said out of her love for woman-hood.
K.R DEEPTHI MAAM
“The way we choose to see things makes all the difference!” _ K.R. Deepthi
Ms K.R. Deepthi, our adorable professor we know is a woman of steel.
She was born and brought up in the Nellore district in a not so financially well-off family. Her intelligence and passion bought her many scholarships throughout her student life. After completing her graduation in Nellore; she worked there for a few years out of her own choice. She was so strong headed that she promised herself to get a higher education before her marriage. And, she did it with immense dedication from the famed Osmania University. That was a very crucial time in her life where she had to manage her education, her profession, her part-time job and her finances. She was happily married on her own will after her post graduation. She beautifully emerged out of her struggles, building a magnificent life which she has today.
This incredible lady we know has seen much turmoil in her life than anyone one of us. Yet, she proudly stands strong with the cutest smile on her face. She can give you tons of inspiration_ just talk to her!
This is what she had to say when we approached her:
· ‘Which comes first according to you: Personal or Professional life?’
“I am what I am because of my family and their never ending support in every walk of my life. My personal life definitely comes first out my gratitude and love for them.”
· ‘What difficulties did you come across in your life and how did you overcome those?’
“People keep asking me how and why did I struggle so hard, but for me, I don’t look at anything as a hardship. Yes, I did have several ups and downs in my life but I don’t name a thing as difficulty so there is no question of overcoming them.”
· ‘What is your constant driving force?’
“The ideology and faith with which my family brought me is the only thing I always look up to. My grandmother’s last words which I recorded are the only thing I repeatedly listen to for invigorating me.”
· ‘What is the principle you live by?’
“The sole principle I honestly believe is, ‘If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change’.”
· ‘Which quality would you recommend to the young ladies of this generation?’
“From the past few decades we have seen a drastic up rise of women, so I believe that there is no such thing as impossibility for women. Come what may; just don’t give up on what you desire for the fear of difficulties”.
· ‘Do you think our constitutional laws adequately empower women?’
“I believe that when we are gifted with all the physical abilities, asking for reservations only makes women or anyone in that case more vulnerable. We need a change in perspective not in the laws!”, came the sturdy answer.
AFROZ BEGUM MAAM
‘Work for what you are passionate about, not for what others want you to be passionate about” -Afroz Begum
Behind the cherubic face, the calm nature and the modest personality is a strong woman of immense knowledge and determination. This line fits for none other than Afroz begum Maam, Mrs. Afroz Begum.
Born and bought up in Ongole , she completed and excelled in her higher education in B-tech after which she was offered a job in the same college by the Hod. With her curiosity to explore the world outside , she came to hyderbad and was immediately appointed in Vasavi. Her passion for her subject had drove her further for M.tech from the prestigious JNTU. This year marks her 7 years of dedicated working in Vasavi and she is on the way for another course of Ph.d.
She had a lot for us ;
“Which comes first according to you: Personal or professional life’
“Priorities change in course with time, when I was studying and working ,i.e before I got married, my priorities were what I chose -a intertwining between the personal and professional life, but after my marriage, there were other responsibilities which one has to adhere to, due to which I felt incumbent to weigh my personal life a bit more than professional”
‘What were the major difficulties you encountered in your life?’
“Difficulties as such -none, yeah I had faced a few hardships while doing my M-tech , as it was a part-time.
After working in the college, I had to go to JNTU where my M.tech classes were scheduled from 6-9..which usually extended upto 10. Then I had to wait for the bus and board on a RTC and finally I reached my room very late.
It was only the tedious traveling ,rest all was a pleasure as long as I enjoyed my subject.”
“Have you ever felt the tightening of the chains of Woman-Hood? “
( This was a candid shot)”No,yeah in few cases regarding Safety ,as I told you earlier, when I had to wait for the buses till 10 in the night, which is obviously not the fault of the Woman-Hood,you know who to blame(she said winking her eyes).I am totally glad to be a woman. I have two brothers beforerme, yet I am pampered the most and taken well care off. So indeed I am privileged to be a woman”
“Given a opportunity, what laws or rules would you amend or add on inorder to empower women”
“I feel woman are sufficiently empowered, but there are few things that come in way – like Safety!
Safety and a security of Woman, is still not achieved to its full extent, they are the major hindrance towards success.
To quote my own personal example, I had got a seat in a very good college in Chennai, but the only reason why I hadn’t joined there was my parents demand for safety. Even I couldn’t go against their will because they were concerned about me. Its a regretful moment in my life .So if strict rules are implemented and more importantly followed, I am sure women can receive great heights vanquishing all other challenges in life”
“What is your constant driving force?”
“ I believe that hardwork pays off! If not now , maybe later but it surely will. The best thing that occurred to me was no one forced or persuaded me to do something, I had the willfully, wholeheartedly chose my area of interest, that is what keeps me going. And also I was never inveigled by the society rather I would say I never allowed myself to be inveigled by money or any other thing other than satisfaction. I decided to choose Satisfaction than a opulent life. So I am happy!..Just love what you do and the world will be a beautiful place to live”
“What would you like to suggest to the young women of this generation?’
“This generation has seen a lot development . Women are active in all field and they are rapidly coming up and are almost in par with their opposite gender. There is nothing I would say as such—just be focused, work hard and aim high”
Women have able to reach heights today, but it would not have been possible without our Fathers, brothers and friends.
We would also use this opportunity to thank
Those great fathers who believed in their daughters dream and helped them achieve it
Those kind brothers who protected and supported their sister and told her no force in the world can stop them!
Those lovely husbands who persuaded their wives to dream further and for being by their side through all walks of life
To those best friends who respected and encouraged their besties!
last but not the least to all those women who believed they CAN!
